Run and file a test
Photograph the tag, enter the readings, and file the result.
The test runs one screen at a time. The bar at the top shows the assembly and the step. Each change is saved on the phone as you go, so you can leave and come back.
1. Photo of the tag
Tap Take photo. Get the whole tag in, close enough to read. The photo is the proof of the test, and a photo is needed before you can file.
The app reads the tag and fills in the next screen for you: type, make, model, size and serial. It only suggests. Check each field. A field it wasn't sure of is marked. If the tag can't be read, fill in the details yourself.
With no signal, the photo is kept on the phone and sent with the test. The tag isn't read.
2. Assembly details
- Pick the type: Reduced pressure (RP), Double check (DC), Pressure vacuum breaker (PVB) or Spill-resistant vacuum breaker (SVB). The test steps change to match.
- Pick the make, model and size, or type them.
- Confirm the serial. If one is on record, the app asks Does the tag match? Tap Yes, matches or No, different and type what the tag says. The office is told. The old number is kept, because the water district has it on file.
- Optional: where the assembly is.
3. Line pressure
Enter the line pressure in psi.
4. The test steps
Each step has the instruction for that assembly. Enter each reading, or tick the box when a valve did not open or a check leaked. The steps are:
- RP: flush the test cocks, connect and bleed the kit, relief valve opening point, check valve No. 2, check valve No. 1.
- DC: flush the test cocks, check valve No. 1, check valve No. 2.
- PVB and SVB: flush and isolate, air inlet opening point, check valve.
The app scores pass or fail as you enter the readings.
5. Wrap up and file
The app shows Passes, Fails or Incomplete. The office scores the readings again when they arrive.
On a fail:
- Under What did you find?, tick everything that applies. Not sure? Skip it.
- Under What happens next?, pick one: Fixed it and retested, Coming back with parts, Needs another trade or Customer is deciding. This is needed to file a failed test.
- For Needs another trade, pick whose trade it is. The office picks the company and passes on the details.
If you cleaned or repaired something and retested, turn on I cleaned or repaired something and retested and say what you did. Add Notes for the office if needed.
Tap File the test. The app shows Passed — filed or Failed — filed. Tap Back to my day.
What filing does
- Makes the test report and the customer's certificate.
- Sends the report to the water district, or holds it for the office (see Water districts and filings).
- Emails the customer their result with the report.
A filed test can't be filed again. A retest is its own job. The office can correct a filed result.
Office staff can file a test for a tester from the same screens, and pick who it was Tested by. A tester can file only their own stops.
